I am considering purchasing a Palm m100, but don't really have the cash to lay out for the USB to serial adapter so that I can HotSync. I know it is possible to HotSync using IR between my Palm and PowerBook G3/333, but I seem to recall that in order to set this up, some sort of software transfer over the HotSync cable was required. Is this the case? If so, I'd need the adatper anyway, but I really hope I can set it up without ever having to plug in a cable.

With OS 3.1 (Palm IIIe) you must transfer some files. But with OS 3.3 and 3.5 I don't think you have to transfer (connection through IrDA is a standard option, but I don't know if hotsync support it)
