Howdy,

I've owned a Visor Dlx since December and am very happy. I works well with my Rev. B iMac, but I just purchased a new PISMO powerbook. I underdstand that it already comes with the Palm desktop already installed and it's a newer version than the one that came with the Visor. Do I need to delete this in order to reload the Handspring software? or How do I install my Visor on the new Powerbook?

Thanks

Just to be safe, don't install the software that came with your PowerBook, and use the software that came with your Visor.

I knew a good man named Murphy well. He proved to me that if a possibility of things going wrong is there, things will not work.

Did you use Infrared HotSyncing? I use that with both my Palms and FireWire PowerBook. They are very nice toys.

I haven't used a Handspring Visor yet. As far as I can tell, it's a poor copy of the Palm. I say this because the Visor's Springboard hasn't "sprung" yet. There aren't unlimited peripherals, and their screens aren't the best, either. Neither Palm nor Handspring have upgraded their product lines for quite a while. I wonder what's next!

Thanks for the info...so the Palm software comes with the Powerbook but is not factory pre-installed?

As for the Visor, I like the expandability, though you are right, no awesome Springboards yet. I recently purchased an 8 mg expansion though. With 16 megs I can store all my medical software, which beats any of the current Palm offerings.

I am thinking of getting a Visor. I have a PowerBook (wallstreet), no usb but I do have IR. So I was wondering if I could sync a Visor with ym PowerBook. I have read a few places that it can not be done. Apple says it can but only mentions it with the pisoms.

Could give me the a helping hand on the answer.

The generic Palm Desktop software works fine with Handsprings(I prefer it over the usually out of fate version that Handspring offers), but using it is tricky. You have to install handspring's software first(to install the USB drivers) and then reinstall the newer Palm version of Desktop.
