I need some advice about Palms. I got really excited about the new m100 but now I don't know if it is such a good idea. The main thing I want to do is hot sync my mail on my G3 (preferably with outlook) onto my palm so I can write and then sync it back to my mac and have it sent. I don't know if this is possible yet. Should I go Visor or m100?

I currently am syncing my Palm IIIxe with my WallStreet PowerBook. I chose the IIIxe for the 8MB RAM specificly for email. Outlook Express 5.02 works great, but you must purchase an after-market mail conduit. I've had great results with MultiMail conduit from Actual Software.
As for the m100, it doesn't look too promising to me. Big case, small screen, and I like all the memory I get with the IIIxe. What sounds sweet is the next generation IIIc color units when Palm goes to a new, more powerful processor. I'll be all over that!

I hate to drop in a new contender, but with a Newton (130 and up), you can dialup to your ISP, receive from your POP3 account, and reply without the need of your desktop. Plus you can get a 130 for pretty cheap on eBay (much less than a palm IIIetc).
And the software is really powerful, ie you can send sketches as gifs, open attachments (like sounds, jpegs/gifs, appz) and its freeware.

You can dial up your ISP on the road with the Palm Modem ($159 CDN) and browse the web, email, ICQ, FTP, Telnet, etc...

Or for $30 CDN you can get a standard PCMCIA modem for your Newton.
Get web, email, ICQ, AIM, Jabber, WAP, FTP, Telnet, Finger, etc etc etc... and when your at the office, you can connect to your ethernet network and surf at high speed... or even serve Newton web server tracker\

First question is do you have USB? If so definitely go with a Visor, trust me I've played with one it puts my Palm IIIe to shame. If you don't have USB ports I'd drop one in anyway and by a Visor. If you are cash strapped though go ahead and buy the m100, just realize that your expansion possibilities are limited.

The functionality of the software is the same between the Visor and the Palm. It's the same Palm OS and the same Palm desktop. If you have a "conduit" that'll work with outlook and the "palm" then it'll work on either.
