I have a Palm III and never use it anymore. I've been thinking about getting a Palm VII, simply for the ability to use the internet abilities on it, but I was thinking... If I were going to shell out the extra money for a Palm VII upgrade (so to speak), all and all I would be willing to go even further to get color support. I was just wondering if anybody had any ideas on weather palm would make an internet/color cross palm?

Also while its on my mind, I can't seem to find pricing for the monthly service of palm internet, any body got a link to pricing?

My understanding is that Palm is going to switch to an entirely new and more powerful processor, probably in the next year. These new chips will allow much improved graphics, especially color displays. My guess is that all Palms except entry-level models will be color.
Waiting for this, however, could be frustrating. I don't feel this current generation of color displays is worth the price, but the basic green screen models are a steal. My IIIxe is sweeeet!

Thats right, Palm will be switching to the more powerful StrongARM processor. Which of course is (SUPRISE SUPRISE!) the same as Newton...

I think it will be a while before we see a Palm VII with a color screen. The Palm VII and VIIx are pretty big and heavy already. A color screen would only make it bigger and heavier; Perhaps too big and heavy to use.

I hope I'm wrong about this.

I'm curious about usage issues. Why are you not using your Palm III anymore? Did your needs change? Did it's usefulness fade?

I would have to say the usefullness faided. I still keep phone numbers, and the occaisonal appointment in it, but not much else...
