Ok, so I'm reading on palmtracker that there is an app that lets you read gameboy games on the visor...

I'm wondering, how?
Is it emulation?
Does it work?
How do you transfer/use the games?

My niece just got a gameboy, so I'm curious...

its emulation...
and its apperently not too good either.

gameboy games can be pulled off the cartridge and into a rom file, which can be run on an emulator.

unless you want to play pirated gameboy games (which you dont), emulation of gameboy on palm is not worth it.

theres a couple palm/gameboy emulators out there. liberty and another one called palmboy. ive heard of people getting somewhat good results with liberty and massive overclocking, but in my experience, overclocking a palm doesnt create the most stable enviroment. the palmboy site says that in order to get the thing to run fast enough, checks that keep the OS from overwriting other information have been stopped. so, even though palmboy is free, ive never tried it. gameboy emulation is neat i guess, but if youre that into gameboy games, just carry around a gameboy with you.

Here's an idea: put a Palm (or Visor, or CLIÉ, or WorkPad, or TRGpro, or SPT or pdQ Smartphone, or whatever Palm OS PDA you use) in one pocket and a Game Boy Color (or Game Boy, or Game Boy Pocket, or Game Boy Light) in another pocket.

These devices are awfully small these days. You can easily carry both of them.

andi*pandi, this will be easier for you than almost everyone else who visits these forums. You can carry both of them in a purse. The rest of us (males) just look silly carrying purses.

I remember reading a few years ago (maybe on emulation.net?) that someone tried porting a gameboy emulator to the palm but then gave up because the palm platform pretty much sucks and can't handle the emulation. That's pretty pathetic for the Palm considering how primative the gameboy was, even for its time. I have an m100 and I am annoyed everyday by how weak and slow it is. I wish i could get my self a newton. Like the rest of us, I am praying for a new apple-branded PDA. All we can do is hope.

Palms are indeed very slow. It is a problem for more than just games - have you ever tried surfing the web on a Palm OS device? It is very disappointing.

I, too, am hoping for a much faster Palm. I know they are in the works for the distant future, but how long are we supposed to wait? It almost makes <gasp> PocketPC seem like an option worth considering. Okay, don't flame me, it was just a thought.
