Yea. The Visor prism gets you the closest. if you include third party apps and spring board moduals.

Looks like you are ready for the new Sony Clié 700 just announced this week in Japan, it does all you want (not MP3 but Atrac, you can convert) and JPEG display with PictureGear.

But I doubt we will see it in the US before the end of the year, you can try to find one on Ebay if you can cope with Japanese OS.

I just got a regular Clié and love it. Just sucks that you have to buy the driver from a third party for $30, and that Sony posts only PC updates,
but you can find the unzipped versions on the boards of Palmblvd.
But for less than $300, you have a jogdial and memory sticks up to 64Mb, in a package that has a better form factor than the palm Vx.

Good luck

I just played around with a Jornada, and while I'd never go WinCE, it is one sweet piece of hardware. If Apple would do the PDA thing (again) and do a mobile/light version of OS X, hotdamn.

Exactly... I would love to see an Apple PDA but if this isn't possible, can't they just make a PDA version of Mac OS as Linux did for PPC PDA?

I have been looking at the Jornada, but don't know if it can link to my Mac. As for the Sony, its about $700+ and doesn't have much built in memory. Does the Sony come with good software? I know it runs Palm OS.
I use to have HP Jornada before. The one with the mini keyboard. It costed to much for what it could do and wasn't that small. The programs where ok though. I took it back and bought my PowerBook.

Your needs practically match that of the new Clie from Sony. As for the software: it has a breat bundle from what I've read and plus, there are tens of thousands of shareware and freeware apps for just about anything you can think of on the net (try http://www.handngo.com/PlatformHome....p;platformId=1 , it has a lot of stuff). As for not a lot of memory: the memory stick expansion slot can add up to 64 MB (soon to be 128 MB) of whatever you want. The color screen is awesome, too, in that it is twice the resolution of Palm's pdas like the newly introduced m505. This is great for reading maps and japanese characters...

I'd give anything for a U.S. mac-compatible version!

How did it come to this? Goodbye PowerPC. | sensory output

New PDA's
Several companies have new PDA's out but some important details keep getting left out. Anyone out there with answers ? Here are the questions:
Sony claims thier new Clié 700 plays still and videos in "High-resolution" bu they never state the actual resolution of the screen. I ask this because youcan run TealMovie files on a Visor Prism which can display 16 bit color, but the darn screen is only 36DPI !! That's ridiculous !
I've heard that the Visor Edge in B&W has a new high contrast screen. They don't say whether the green background has been eliminated though.
Palm says the batteryon the m505 is high capacity, but they don't state the run time.
When are all these companies going to stop playing games like this ?
BTW. Handspring blew it with the Edge. It's fraught with design errors especially the kudgy Springboard "Backpack".

The Clie sounds like what you want, but another sweet machine is the Compaq iPaq, though it can get to $700 and up in some makes.
Its small, awsome color, hella fast (what, 200mhz?) and despite the fact that CE is a rescource hog in all sences of the word (since when is an MS program not?) its a MUCH nicer interface then the standard PalmOS.

Now if only Apple would make a PDA... Id buy it in a flash
