I'm wondering if anyone here has had anyexperience using Palms (be it Handspring or whatever) in foodservice, namely for waiters/servers taking orders on them, or atleast using them in place of a guestcheck. I'm a fulltime student/fulltime waiter, and looking to invest in a Palm mainly for the purpose of taking orders and tracking how long food is taking to get out of the kitchen. Is there any existing software that will do this, or is there some way that the included software could be used to accomplish this. I guess all I'd really need is some sort of a customizable notepad and a stopwatch that could keep time for about ten different items at once.

anyone have any experience?

thanks

Have you tried using the Palm's writing shortcuts to avoid writing the whole order (such as scribbling eb for eggs benedict)?
I'm sure you can find a stopwatch for the Palm around the web...

I don't actually own a palm just yet, as I mentioned in the post, so I don't really know how it's apps work, exactly. That scripting feature does sound quite useful, however. As far as the stopwatch goes, I'd really need something that would be able to track the time since individual orders were entered.

thanks
