...from the second "visit" (both were warranty repairs). The first time, they fixed only one of the two problems it had, but after 4 weeks, it came back. So I sent it in again. The Palm I bought was a IIIe SE (the budget model in the limited edition clear case). Well, when I got mine back this time, i could see that now my Palm has a RAM socket! So I'm thinking "wow! they put the guts of a Palm III in my clear case!" So I turn it on and go to home-> info, and lo and behold, it shows a flash ID, but also that it has 4MB of RAM (twice as much as the non-expandable IIIe). So it is not a III, it's a IIIx!! So I was able to upgrade to OS 3.3 (which makes switching between serial/USB and IR HotSync much easier).

Wow!

tooki,

That's amazing! When I sent in my Palm IIIe SE for repair, I think they may have sent it back without working on it at all. Every Palm I've ever had has broken within the warranty period, although Palm has sometimes refused to honor the warranty...

They need to shorten the waranty period . I broke my Palm IIIe SE's Screen by jumping and having it fall out of my shirt pocket to the first floor (from the second.) I never got it repaired and my dad gave me his palm Vx, (which he had just gotten back from repairs) and bought a VII. We are all very careful now, except for my mom, who lost her VII and had her Vx stolen with her purse. (She got the purse back, but not the palm.)

Earlier, we had a PalmPilot 1000 which we broke when we dropped. It was repaired and lived until recently, when my mom spilled sprite on it and then got a Palm VII... (Story continues above.)

Anyway, OS 3.5 makes it SOOO much easier to switch between IR and sync.

I also hacked my USB serial converter to give power to the palm, instead of having a seperate power adapter. (Rechargable Vx.)

I almost destroyed it in the process, and I still have to finish my homework... (did it in a few hrs this afternoon.)

What happened to your Palm IIIe that you had to take it in for service? Mine will not hold the date. When I turn it on, it will display the date as being about three days ago. I reset it, and it does the same thing a few days later. It makes the Palm pretty much useless, as none of the reminders work as a consequence. I visited Palm's website and looked up the problem, and have done both a soft reset and a hard reset with no luck. I was just wondering if anyone else was having similar problems?

Mine has a flaky power switch. Sometimes you have to push it many times for anything to happen. I think maybe it does this on purpose when you are online, but I also have the problem at other times.
