Now that I've seen plenty of people talk about the Newton, where does one find it? I gather that they're not made anymore, but some still talk of it being available. Any suggestions?

I've bought two newtons through e-bay, there is usually a good selection there, from the first ones up to the last models.

Hey there...

If you are interested, I have two different Newtons that are in awesome working condition that I just don't use.. They are great machines, but since I don't use them, I feel bad that they are just sitting around doing nothing...

Anyways, I have:
- an original Newton (including all of the original booklets, manuals, a user video - that's still shrink wrapped, leather case, modem, etc.) The whole package!

- an eMate (with original manual, etc.)

If you're interested in either, send me an email to mike@marusin.com

Thanks!

I love my Newton MP 2100 which I bought used last year. I have only used it as a stand alone machine, and it accompanied me on my travels last year, and I used it for word processing, note taking, email, and spreadsheet for some basic book keeping that I needed to do, along with Names and Dates for contacts and scheduling. The HWR really works, as long as I don't write too fast or sloppy. Truly a remarkable PDA, although it is somewhat large by today's standards. That said, I can't stand the tiny Palm screen either.

Well, marusin, thanks. I appreciate that. I really don't have the $$$ for any more toys now (having just bought $3000 worth of Apple stuff). I just really wanted to know if the Newtons were even available. I really might want one in the future, though. Thanks again!

Oh, you'll want one. I have an upgraded 2000 and I couldn't be happier. Caoimhin, you're right, the screen is a good size. I couldn't stand to use a Palm -- or use Graffiti.

You can try shrevesystems. They advertise in the back of MacAddict, MacWorld. Can't remember their url. Or you can shoot me an email. I have several 120s, if youre interested.
I use a 130 and a 2000.Daily. I also have a lonely, neglected Palm m100. I still maintain that, despite the Newton's weight and size, there is no better PDA out there.

I'm going to pull your head off because I don't like your head.

I would NOT recommend Shreve Systems. People have bought Newtons, Mac parts, etc from Shreve and have had nothing but bad luck. Often the parts come DOA and then there is a huge pain trying to get them to take it back. I would recommend trying Newton Classifieds or eBay or comp.sys.newton.marketplace.

Thanks, people! I didn't realize that the Newton was still so popular. I'd love to have an Apple PDA to add to my collection (of Apple products), but $$$ doesn't permit right at this moment. I'll definitely check out the places you have mentioned and stay current on them. I appreciate it!
