If you use a USB adapter with a Palm Vx (that has a serial connector), does it transfer data at USB or serial rates? How much of a difference does this make time-wise with an average size (let us say 1 meg) data base? Thanks.

I don't think the Visor supports real USB either; I think the difference is with them the adapter is built into the cradle instead of buying it separately. I think the m500 and m505 might be actual USB, but I'm not sure.

Here's a way to tell, if someone with a Visor would try it: open System Profiler and see if there is an entry for your cradle even when the Visor isn't in the cradle. If so, it means the cradle has the USB hardware, not the Visor. If so, that doesn't preclude real USB speeds, but chances are it's really just an adapter in the cradle.
