Its a Springport module for 802.11b Wireless Ethernet ie Airport.

I am trying to decide on the Visor Edge versus the M500. This makes
the Edge a little ahead (trying to avoid the obvious pun :-) ) in my book. But then the M500 has flash and card support. Maybe someone will build 802.11b ethernet for Palm. I am suprised it hasn't arrived yet.

Anyone any ideas - which should it be ?

Dude, I was all over the Edge till the new Palm M505 came out. The COLOUR M505 is $50 more then the M500 and the Visor edge.

Have you read the reviews for the Edge? It comes with an awful flat pen, and when you add the springboard slot adapter is is BIG, UGLY and top heavy. The springboard slot is also BIG and proprietary and the Palms is not.

The M500's are ROM up-gradable, and almost as small as the Edge with no need for a slot adapter.

If you compare the specs side by side and value the new Palms kill the expensive, to little to later Visor Edge.

Go for the Palm 100%!

what is the availability of the palm's expansion slot devices. ? I don't think they will be available soon. The edge looks better in real life. (it looks like a mini TiG4) I am dying to see the new palms.

i don't know if it is true, but if anyone is going to come out with wireless ethernet it will be handspring, and you can bet they will support us mac users.
