Hi!

I finally got a MP2000, but I'm still waiting for the various cables and software that originally shipped w/ that newton;

I also have a Pismo;
can I use the Newton irda to connect to my pismo?
I would like to install some packages on the newyon, but don't know how and what software do I need;

If I can do it with my palmV, I should also be able to do it w/ a Netwon (that is much better btw)

Can someone tell me what software do I need (and maybe where to find it)?

TIA to all happy newton users!!!

hello

I got a Newton MessagePad 2100. What I'd like to ask you is: can I connect it to my TiBook (I'm still waiting for mine) and how (IrDA or USB/serial-Adapter)? will the sync-software run under OS 9.1? is there a way to use it with Outlook/Entourage as e.g. Palms can? where can I get any software for it?
thanks for every answer

it does. (via the serial cable on my old mac)

as far as connecting the newton to the ti is concerned, still waiting for my ti, i'll try out connecting it via irda, but i'm also thinking about getting an ethernet-pc-card to connect it via appletalk. i've seen really cheap used cards on ebay.

I'm geting my Newton on Sat (an MP 120) but as far as I read, you just need to set on whatever computer you want to connect to it through irda, and it will mount as a server would (can not confirm this as I have yet to try it out). I'll try and find the site which had this info.

After checking apple's TIL, it says it can't do much through irda to a computer, but then it talks about how it works with all powerbooks, it seems contradictory...

For IrDA, you need special software drivers on the Newt. and laptop/desktop. The fastest is the ethernet card, second fastest is the USB-Serial adapter(either Keyspan's Twin Serial or Belkin's), last but not least is the IrDA. In IrDA, you have to get EETransfers, try here... IrDA-MacOS. It's like I said, slow but it does work, about 33% success rate.

check out the Newton Data Browser here... http://www.tempel.org/newton/index.html.

It's still under development but will eventually be a full fledged connection package and it allows for IRDA. Betas are available

thanks for the information about IrDa connection.
I think I'll try it with the USB/serial-adapter I have to buy for my eTrex (GPS receiver, this will be fun too ).
About the pccard-ethernet stuff: does it need a driver? which cards are compatible? where could I buy them (in europe)? sounds interesting too, if you're running such a solution, please tell me
