Is Palm OS 4.0 available for download anywhere? I have OS 3.1H2, and I can't get my Visor upgraded past that. All of the OS updates are for Palm specific models, but no Visor mentioned. I'd like to upgrade the OS, but how? Handspring has no info on their site. Any suggestions? Am I stuck with OS 3.1H2 forever?

The Visors don't have a flash rom*, so you're stuck with the OS you have now. You can update the OS with patches/updates stored in ram, but you cannot upgrade to PalmOS4 as it is stored in rom.
*maybe one or two models do, but I don't think so...

eep! is totally right, but in my eyes its no big loss. OS 4.0 is principally for the new palm handhelds with SD expansion cards. the other features available with it (some security thing and different date views or something) arent that great and wouldnt really be of any benefit to you. any of the advantages with OS 4 that you dont have with your OS can surely be taken care of with a couple freeware programs/hacks. are there any specific reasons that you want to upgrade to OS 4.0?

Well, I must admit, I always need the "latest thing." I just figured there were some fixes and improvements. But, if it's mainly for the newer m500's, then I'm not really worried. My wife, however, just bought an m100 and I'm ticked that I can't get the Notepad program it comes with (v 3.5). I know there are freeware notepad/drawing programs, but I really like the one on my wife's m100...can't IR it, either...
I use SilverScreen, and that really spruces up the OS. Guess I'll hold out for any Visor-specific OS upgrades...

there is a way to get that notepad app, but you need a flash rom , a windows pc (or vpc) a copy of the m100 rom, a copy of your rom, and a windows program called romedit, i've done it before although i don't think i've got romedit anymore. and depending on which way you look at it!
