the 505 charge battaries on usb power?
What the nerd community most often fail to realize is that all features aren't equal. A well implemented and well integrated feature in a convenient interface is worth way more than the same feature implemented crappy, or accessed through a annoying interface.

I was just asked this very question by one of my world-famous colleagues (who now has a big head because of your post!). The answer is no. I can imagine the lowest common denominator among us loudly denouncing all PDA's on some newsgroup forum after draining their laptop battery with their USB cradle. Still, I believe my colleague has contacted Palm.

shame - am buying one in US and will need a new cradle to go home to UK now. do they take 220v? (the US ones)
