Des anyone know the easiest way to connect a PC to a Mac over the internet so that it is possible to see the system resources on the Mac (folders etc)? I am running Vista Ultimate on a PC with a wireless braodband connection to the web and there is a VPN router at the Mac end. The Mac is running Leopard and is ona Broadband wireless LAN. I can connect remotely with a Mac but cant with a PC.

Enable Windows File Sharing in the Sharing control panel of system preferences. Note the IP address and name of the share (you see it when you enable filesharing) and connect directly with "Map network drive" from Windows (right-click My Computer). You will only see the shared folder of the relevant user by default, but this can be configured as well.

I think your response is in relation to connecting a PC to a PC on a LAN. I am trying to connect a PC to a Mac over the internet. I have the IP address and I have been using Remote desktop connection. Is that the correct utility. Once I connect then do I follow the same steps that you suggest? Does it make a difference if the Mac is on a VPN?

Which is the server (the remote computer) and which is the client (the one you're sitting at)?

Try the free version of LogMeIn. I've used it to get to my iMac at home from my XP laptop at work.
