So I'm talking to someone on the internet that claims his mini plays h264 video back on the GPU. 1080p video plays with quicktime using 5% CPU. This was great to hear, one of the jobs of my mini will be media server via front row. And all of my video is h264. But when I play back video, it doesn't work. 720p video uses 40% cpu. 1080p video uses 80-100% cpu. The video on GPU thing doesn't work. This person insists they are using nothing special, and NOT a 10.6 seed. What gives. Anyone know the real deal with h264 video decoding on 9400m's?

Yes, the 9400M supports H.264 decoding offloading in OS X. Try a 1080p video from apple.com/trailers.

What content are you trying to play? Some homebrew H.264 movie encoded with options Apple hasn't blessed?

I did try 1080p from apple's trailer site. That was what it took 100% cpu to play.

I just played the transformers full trailer at 1080p from apple.com. Used about 80% CPU the whole way through. Only things that came up in the console were these:
