It's been a good little machine. It propelled me to semi-stardom and a place in Mac history, and now it's for sale.

Own the 500MHz Dual USB iBook that originally belonged to Aaron Adams!

Here's what you get:
  • 500/66 MHz Dual USB iBook
    640MB RAM
    10GB HD
    DVD-ROM
All original CD's, manuals, and packaging
    Jaguar upgrade CD's
    VGA adapter
    Video adapter cable
New battery, about a month old
    Yo-yo power adapter

There are no major cosmetic defects and everything works correctly. I'll be happy to provide pictures upon demand, and I may post some in this thread when I get a minute.

I'd like to get at least $800 for it. If you're interested, please e-mail me. I'll also answer questions asked in this thread. There are no rules to this semi-auction and my personal judgement and twisted logic will decide the outcome, so be forewarned!

I haven't replaced the iBook with anything yet, and I'm not sure what I'll get. I already have a 17" iMac in addition to the iBook.

Shouldn't Apple hook it up with crazy discounts since you're plugging their company? I would have thought they'd give you a few 1.25 gHz G4s, 10-20 iPods and all kinds of goodies

Since June, I've asked them repeatedly for polo shirts and t-shirts. Guess how many I have? I also asked for an autographed picture of Steve. Do you think it's hanging on my wall? I asked for a copy of the employee t-shirt with my quote on it. You would have thought I was asking for a ride on Steve's private jet. Do you think I have that shirt yet? I asked for some of the store displays with my image on them. How many of those do you think I have?

Don't assume that any commercial stars are getting special treatment.

Oh, and have you met Janie Porshe or Kikuchu Momoki (or whatever their names are)?

The second bunch was filmed months after the first, so I didn't get to meet any to them. I would imagine a new group is probably being filmed now, although I have no specific knowledge. Switchers will probably be turned over every 13 weeks until the end of the campaign. I don't know if they'll ever re-run previous ones or not.

So anyway, who wants to buy this laptop?

And now it's time for me to give thanks where thanks is due. When I got home this evening, there was a box on my doorstep. Inside that box was 10 t-shirts, all with the Apple logo on the front and the quote on the back.

I'm grateful to have them and I'd like to publicly extend my thanks to the people at Apple and the people at Edelman Worldwide who treat me so well, even if there is a little delay sometimes.
