Hello guys, up for sale is my PC system:

Athlon XP 1700+ @ 1.46GHz. (I have been running it at 1.8GHz/1.7v/2200+ on a bus speed of 328MHz for well over 2 months without any signs of instability.)
A Spreeze HSF with an 80mm fan.
TWO 256MB sticks of Kingston 2700 DDR 333MHz RAM for a total of 512MBs.
An 80GB Seagate Barracuda ATA/133 7200RPM HD.
A Lite-ON 48x24x48x CD-RW. (Beige)
A 1.44MB Floppy Drive. (Beige)
A 128MB DDR Radeon 9100 4x AGP card manufactured by Sapphire. (The original fan on this died so I screwed on a fan from a Pentium 1, works great, and runs much cooler now.)
A 56k v.90 Creative Labs ModemBlaster.
An MSI KT4V motherboard:

VIA KT400 Chipset
8x AGP
6 PCI Slots
1 CNR Slot
3 DDR RAM Slots for a maximum of 3GBs.
USB 2.0
Bluetooth
And ATA/133

The board also allows for 1MHz stepping of the bus speed, and core voltage tweaking up to 1.7v. Also, I updated this board to the latest BIOS from MSI and it is now fully compatable with the new Athlon XP 3000+.

And last but not least, an Antec SLK3700AMB case. I don’t need to tell you how great this case is, it is currently one of the highest rated around. The paint job finish is excellent, kudos to Antec. Here is a run down of it;

350 watt Dual-Fan Antec SmartPower supply
4x 5.25” drive bays with rails.
A removeable floppy drive cage which holds 2 drives.
And a removeable 5-drive hard drive cage.
120mm Antec case fan in the rear with a spot up front for one more.
And, a removeable/washable air filter…

I did a rather nice cabling job on this box if I do say so myself, though I didnt deal too much with the IDE ribbons because I had always planned to get rounded ones and never did.

The machine will come with all of the software CDs that came with the componets, including:

Nero 5.
MSI DVD.
MSI's driver and utility disc.
The Radeon driver and utility disc.

I will also include every piece of paperwork that I have accumulated with the various componets.

This machine will come preloaded with Windows 2000 Professional. I will NOT include a copy of the OS on CD. It is up to you to obtain your own copy of Windows if you do not wish to keep 2000 on the drive. I will also install Mandrake 9.0 if you wish and include the 3 burned discs if you wish.

I am selling this machine because I joined the military, and will of course be traveling. Time for a laptop.

Before any of you ask, let me say that I will NOT part this machine out, so please do not ask. I am looking for a quick sale to a single buyer.

I can provide references to any interested buyer as well as eBay feedback.

I am looking for $525 including shipping from Tulsa - OK - 74136 to anywhere in the CONTINENTAL USA, Or Best Offer.

If you want dibs, e-mail me and THEN post in the thread. I have the machine posted around the net so it would be easier to grant dibs based on e-mail arrival time. E-mail me at: MacDudeGuy AT Netscape DOT Net

Thanks for looking guys.

your price is too high- anyone could build a similar system NEW for less, it sounds very home grown which brings the value down even more, and this is a Mac forum.

Nice thread crap.

And I would suggest you look around at prices, you will find that it would cost you more than this to buy from a REPUTABLE retailer. And then there is the delay time before arrival of the parts, the assembly time, and the possibility of recieving dead parts.

And I have sold more than a few PCs here before. And about the price being too high... I said OR BEST OFFER.

you asked for it...

www.pricewatch.com
prices include shipping:

Athlon 1700+/mainboard combo: $85
512 Mb DDR: $50
80GB Hard Drive: $75
48X CD-RW: $50
ATi Radeon 9100 128MB: $85
Antec case with fan and PS: $80
Sound Blaster Live! 5.1: $30
Floppy: $10

Total: $465

So why would I want a used system that's been overclocked, therefore having its lifespan shortened, and has hardware conflicts that you listed when I could save $200? If I buy new from a retailer I get a warranty. With you I get none. The very fact that you've bumped your own thread a few times is a good indication that no one wants a PC in a mac forum. Also, your angry outburst will no doubt drive customers away. Hopefully when you join the military they will give you a much needed attitude adjustment.

Exactly who made that motherboard (Was it MSI? Does it have overclock ability? Does it have 6 PCI slots? Does it have an 8x AGP slot? What about built in LAN, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth?)? Is the RAM made by Kingston? Is it DDR 333? Is the hard drive a 7200RPM Seagate? Where is the Leadtek PVR card? Where is the CreativeLabs modem? And how many of those dealers have you actually heard of?

You have a lot to learn about PC hardware.

Because you didnt agree with my price didnt mean you had ANY right to crap my thread. If you have something to say, send me a private message and we can talk. It is especially rude considering you apparently have no interest in the system at all.

(And what system conflict are you talking about? I said there is a problem with the drive, not the computer. Which is why I am 'tossing it in' and not counting it as part of the system.)

Do you have you heart set on selling the system as a whole or would you be willing to piece it out?

Well, for the moment I am still trying to sell it as a whole. But I am getting closer to the point where I am willing to part it out.

I'll send you a private message if/when I do decide to part it out. Thanks.

Have you made sure to post it on a bunch of different forums? The wider your audience, the better your chances. I'd try PCMech classifieds as well.

(^Thanks for the bump^)

Okay, I sold two of the componets (The Leadtek PVR, and the SB Live!) from the system, and have updated the description and price accordingly. (Also removed the finicky 24x CD-ROM, as I have determined that it has died .)

Now, $525 shipped - Or Best Offer.

I can't belive no one has snapped this up. I mean, the case, mobo, proc, ram alone are worth $400+ship easy since they are all solid name brand products, very high on the quality lists. Plus the fact that it's been cabled...

Pretty good price I guess, priced out those components at Newegg and it came out to $488 shipped, so a $40 markup for putting it all together isn't too bad. Of course, this is a Mac board so the odds of selling that PC is pretty darn slim I'd say. Did you post this over at Ars and Anandtech?

Nice system, but I tend to agree. No chance of selling on a MAC forum.

Yes, I have posted it over at Ars and Anand.

And oddly enough, 2 of the 3 PCs I have sold in the last year have been here.

Whoo... heh my bad, dunno how I forgot the HD. Add another $80 or so, so yeah around $550. Very good price there... too bad I have no use for a new PC right now (seeing as I already have a 1.33 Athlon, 512 DDR, Geforce3, 60GB, etc. etc.)

Er.. I think you'd want a MDD Power Mac for that application. But wait... too noisy, though it's fixable.

Well, I ended up getting $525, which is less than I wanted originally, but exactly what I wanted in the past few days. PayPal took 3% of it, which I hadnt counted on (I didnt know they took a cut of all the payments you recieve when you have a premier account, whether or not it is Credit Card), and shipping is probably going to be more than I thought.

Oh well, it's sold and I am now ready for new iBooks to drop.
