I was debating on where to post this and figured this would be the best place, but I'm not sure if it should go elsewhere. if it needs to be moved please feel free to mod me somewhere else.
anyway, I plan to place my barely used copy of final cut pro 3 on ebay soon, but I'm not sure on the general rules one should follow when selling used software. Since I registered it already am I required to do anything to un-register? Am I required to uninstall the program from my system, will it cause trouble for the new owner if they try registering it and I've got it sitting on my system still? I'm just unsure on all the various possible problems one can have with such a sale, and would like some clarity. Any other info or tips would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks for everything

Software sold should always come in the original boxes with instruction manuals, original software CDs and anything else included with purchase. It is also illegal to keep a copy of the software on your personal computer for more than 24 hours.
I'm not sure about registering the software and such, but someone else may able to chime in with that information.

Yes and we all know everyone has legally purchased the $5000 worth of software on their Powerbooks.

hmm, well, yeah, i have no problem removing it from my mac, so that shouldn't be a problem. Does anybody know if I have to deactive my registration? Is this going to be a problem for the buyer?
Thanks

Ok, I just called AppleCare to see if they knew how it worked. They said the new owner would just need to go to register.apple.com, enter in the serial number with their name and contact information, and they would be the new registered user. By doing that I would then be bumped off as the registered user. Thanks for the help

Of course not, the companies I work for did.
Truth be told, I have tons of software that I didn't buy (and that noone bought for me) I just don't have it installed. I seem to be given tons of software. But after looking at it, I delete it, and either buy it if I like it or toss the disc in my "software archive box" in the closet if I don't. I find this to be a good compromise.
