I was wondering what the best way to pay for items that are sold on this forum, and how to make sure the buyer receives the item.
Thank you.

When you send the item by US Mail, you can get Delivery Confirmation. You can track the status of the delivery and it will show you when the item was delivered. I get DC for items I sell via Ebay. You can also go for returned receipt, a green postcard that the receiver must sign on delivery and then is sent back to you by the Postal Service as proof as delivery.

Well, if you request payment before shipping, then you'll always get paid. Then, of course, the buyer will worry about getting burned.
A slightly complicated way to do it is to find out how much it would cost to ship the item C.O.D. and add the postage in a second time. Request that the buyer send you payment for this amount before shipping with the balance to be paid C.O.D. This way, the buyer is reasonably protected against getting nothing for their payment and you're protected in case the buyer flakes out and refuses to pay when the letter carrier arrives to collect the C.O.D.
I forgot to add that a U.S. Postal Money Order is a nice way to request the payment. You can get online and check the serial number against a "hotlist" of stolen and invalid numbers, as well as being able to cash it at any post office. It saves a trip too because I use the money order to pay for item I received it for. The change goes into my pocket.

Escrow? http://www.escrow.com
I believe that's what eBay suggests for using escrow on auctions, so I assume it's legit/good.

I've used escrow.com and they are good. It's a fairly simplistic process and the site is easy to use.
Recommended.

Thank you for all the help. If my seller agrees, I think I will be using the UPS method...it's fair and safe it seems to be...well I'm hoping so.
