The ArsTechnica Openforum Agora Classifieds are a good place to start. Make sure to post a link to the Agora Classifieds sale in the Machintoshian Achaia Perpetual "Mac crap for sale" thread. Good luck!

I will consider the possibility of a good gaming pc in place of $ or a 5gb Ipod, and possibly (not likely) a dp mac

just opening some options

maybe I should just ebay it

Nice combo...

Already have a 12" PB though and I also couldn't justify something as valuable.

how much level 3 cache is on those processors? and what is your offer to go along with it?

edit: what kind of graphics card as well
edit again: did it have the fan noise upgrade kit applied?

Well, I wish I could answer the cache question, I'm at my office and can't see the box at this time, but it's the original MDD dual 1ghz offered for the first time last October. Maybe a check of Apple's site will yield a quick answer otherwise it'll have to wait until I get home.

It has an ATI9000 in it, and I have not upgraded the fan but it is eligible, you would just need to go to apple's site to get the upgrade. The noise never bothered me, but that might be because I have several other machines in the same room.

As far as additional cash, what do you feel would be fair?

I'll help Roger out on this one

His Dual 1Ghz MDD machine has 1MB of Level 3 cache per processor as clearly seen here: www.apple-history.com

And also, Roger sold me his 12" PB via these forums and he's an *excellent* person to deal with. My awesome 12" PB is living proof of it!

I thought that the time limit was up for upgrading the fan system..

can anyone help me out as to what is a fair value to his system is? kinda a strange time for the older powermacs now that the g5's are on the way.

That time limit, sadly, has passed. Your only hope of getting the "quieter" fan is by ordering direct from Verax. However, in my humble opinion, the original PowerMacs weren't that loud. All the fuss was just stirred up by a bunch of whiners who have never heard a Windows machine w/ 9 fans crank up to play Unreal Tournament at 300FPS, lol.

But anyways, on the value of his system, if he's including all the orignal discs/keyboard/mouse/etc. that came w/ the machine, I'd say that his machine could easily fetch upwards of $1,500-$1,650 on eBay. It's got lotsa RAM, a SuperDrive (most expensive addition), and a whopping HD. If you weren't in dire need of a G5 for major PhotoShop/video editing tasks, I'd jump on the G4. I myself recently took advantage of this situation as well and purchased a G4 Cube & upgraded it to 800Mhz and couldn't be happier. It's extremely quick and hasn't dissapointed me at all in doing my typical tasks. Considering his machine is much quicker than mine, I'd be willing to bet you'd be more than satisfied. But anyways, I'd say a fair value on it would be around $1,500 because he can definitely fetch that on eBay.

And no problem Roger, just speaking the truth!

EDIT: CLICK HERE to see a similar (although lesser in some specs) machine that ended just a few days ago.

Well, I'm thinking I'll ebay it and see what I can get out of it first. Thank you for responding and I may catch up with you later, but I do have a couple of other irons in the fire right now for trades.

Thanks.

This price is insane guys...somebody should jump on this. I sold this exact same setup (save the extra Power Supply) on eBay about a month ago for over $3,500.

BTW, I believe www.warehouse.com has the Dual 1.42's for sale
