Hello everyone.
I have for sale a brand new Apple Xserve computer that is still sealed in it's box with a one year warranty from Apple. The machine was purchased last Wednesday, October 1st, shipped Thursday via UPS next day air (so it wouldn't spend several days bouncing around on a truck) and picked up by me on Friday at the local UPS distribution center (I'm kinda anal about these things, plus I work right next to the distribution center at the airport).
It was purchased from Small Dog Electronics. Many of you may already know that Small Dog Electronics is a highly reputable Apple reseller. If you are not familiar with them, please do a search on the Internet, I'm sure you'll find great things about them. They come highly recommended from many of the Apple oriented web sites and others in the industry.
The machine was purchased as part of an insurance settlement (many of our older servers and other equipment were taken out by a nearby ligntening strike, so we decided to replace them all with a few Xserves). Each Xserve was able to compensate for several of the older servers. We ordered an extra one just to be sure, and if it didn't end up being used, I'd planned on keeping it for my personal use. Ultimately though, I decided that this is more machine than I really need, and so, have decided to sell it. I talked to Apple, and they said the warranty would transfer without a problem, especially since I have not opened the box, thereby enabling the new owner to fill in the registration forms themselves (I think you can even purchase various maintenance and protection programs for it).
If you're familiar with Apple products, you'll know that the Xserve is a server class computer (see
http://www.apple.com/xserve/ for more information). It supports Macintosh, Windows, UNIX and Linux based clients. I live in Little Rock, Arkansas (72223 ZIP Code).
I've been buying and selling (mostly buying though) on eBay since 1999 and have good/quality feedback (no negatives). My eBay ID is "aragorn*elessar". You'll notice a Changed ID icon next to my name. This is because I originally used my e-mail address as my eBay ID. For my protection, eBay asked that I change my ID to something other than my e-mail address (as a precaution against scammers that might otherwise try to spoof my ID for fraudulent purposes). The icon should disappear in a little less than a month.
The retail price of this machine (as configured above) is $6400 at the Apple Store and other resellers, but I'll entertain all offers.
As far as payment goes, I'd be willing to accept a US Postal Service Money Order or other mutually acceptable form of payment. I'd even be willing to drive as far as Dallas or Memphis (make regular trips to those cities) to meet you. If I meet you for the transaction, I'd prefer cash.
