You can get a new 900 MHz with Combo from Apple for $999 or for $949 with the education discount. The 800 MHz with CD-ROM is $899 or $799 with edu. discount.
If nothing else check on eBay. I have seen some good deals on the 700 MHz model here lately. Alot of them have the maxxed memory and Applecare already for around $700. Good luck.
