Howdy all!

Less than a month ago, I purchased a new aluminum 15" Powerbook G4 with the combo drive. It is a great machine, but a good deal on the 17" model has come my way and I am considering upgrading.

The display on this unit developed those dreaded white spots that has been an issue with the new 15" models. However, Apple has a fix for this issue and they are currently replacing the display. Apparently, they have a new screen from a new supplier that the more recently produced units are being fitted with. With this unit, you are guaranteed the new and corrected display. If you buy new, there is some risk of getting a unit with a defective screen that might still be in the channel.

Other than this issue with the display, I have had zero problems. This is a fast, beautiful machine.

This unit comes with Panther, has an Airport Extreme Card, and was upgraded from 256MB RAM to 1GB (two 512MB modules direct from Apple). I'll even throw in my new laptop bag.

I'd like to get $2,270 for this package. New, this model retails for $1,999 without the additional Apple RAM ($300 for each module), Airport Extreme Card ($99) or bag ($69.99). Plus, it's all installed and ready to go.

Let me know if you're interested by e-mailing maccentric2@netscape.net, IM'ing maccentric2, or replying here.

Howdy all, I am lowering my asking price for this package to $2,170. Buyer pays shipping.

Thanks for your good wishes.

By the way, do you think this is a good deal? I know it has had a repair, but...

a.) That means that the unit has almost zero risk of developing white spots

and

b.) I am including 1GB RAM, an Airport Extreme Card, and laptop bag for just $150 more than the original retail price.

Anyways, if anyone else wants to make an offer, you know what to do.

Okay, because I really need to sell this item, I've done the math and decided that $2,043, plus shipping, is the lowest I can go. This includes the 1GB RAM ($600 value), Airport Extreme Card ($99), and Vanguard laptop bag ($69.95).

Any takers? E-mail maccentric2@netscape.net.

This looks like a good deal to me, but I just don't have that much money to spare (any offer that I could make would be insultingly small). It might help you sell it if you post pictures of it and say if you will include the original manuals, box, cables, receipt, etc. Also, do you have an ebay record? How would you want people to pay? Paypal? These are things that I would ask about if I were considering buying it. Good luck to you.

This item has been sold.

Thanks to those who expressed interest and offered their feedback.

Now, the question is, do I get the 17" model...
