This is a brand new 12" PowerBook G4! This was ordered last week and received this week. But, as my luck would have it, I found out yesterday that my job is getting me a new 15" PowerBook so I am of course going to go for the free upgrade and sell this little guy. I would like to just return it to Apple for a full refund, but since it was custom configured (maxed out) they won't accept a return.

This PowerBook is loaded:

1GHz G4
1.25GB DDR RAM (1GB chip, +256MB on board)
SuperDrive (w/iDVD)
80GB Hard Drive
Airport Extreme
Bluetooth
OS X (Panther - w/full install restore DVD)

Since I am getting a 15" PowerBook, these BRAND NEW 12" PowerBook RadTech accessories are useless to me, so I am throwing these in the box as well:

12" PowerBook PowerSleevz - w/PowerBook Logo ($23 value - free):

12" PowerBook Laptop ScreensavRz - w/PowerBook Logo ($15 value - free):

This configuration at Apple is currently priced at $2723 PLUS the mandatory TAX you'd have to pay since all custom configurations like this come from Apple Direct and they charge TAX (unless you live in a state that does not charge sales tax). Here in good ol' NY, it's 8.6% on everything you buy.

Since this is a whopping week old, and the box has been opened (incidentally, there are ZERO dead pixels) I am asking $2450 - shipped (insured). To estimate how much you'd save, as an example, this is how much it would cost to configure this notebook and have it shipped free, but with the mandatory Apple Store TAX to someone in NYC (at 8.6% TAX): $2957.17 - that would be about $500 savings (give or take depending on where you live).

IF you don't want the 1GB of RAM (and have it shipped with the on-board 256MB) to save some cash, then I'd sell it for $1900 - shipped (insured) and sell the 1GB RAM stick separately (since I don't think I can use it in the 15" PowerBook).

That is the best price I can offer, so please don't ask for lower as it is not negotiable (I am already taking a huge loss). Serious inquiries only PLEASE! Send any questions and so on to me via eMail: steven@sowelu.com (you can also ask for my number and call me direct in NYC if you are a little wary about buying something like this online). OR, if you live or work in Manhattan, you can purchase and pickup the PowerBook in person (after Payment has cleared). I work in midtown (West 50's). I can also meet for the purchase anywhere on Staten Island as well.

I have a verified PayPal account and have a perfect record with eBay. Personal checks need to clear fully before the box is shipped or picked up. This PowerBook has 1 year of AppleCare which can be upgraded to 3 years by Dec 2004. I will not and can not support this PowerBook. All support, inquiries and so on should go to Apple after this sale as if you purchased it from them (and you'll register with Apple when you Power it up and log on for the first time).

It's been sold! Some lucky person is getting a mint, dead-pixel free, brand new loaded and maxed out 12" bad boy for hundreds $$ less! Now I can enjoy my new 15" when it arrives even more. Unless of course it has all the problems that I've been reading about. Time will tell!

Thanks for looking anyway.
