I have a Dell Inspiron 5100 (see here: http://forums.macnn.com/showthread.p...hreadid=189185), and I am obsessed with the Gateway 400 and 450 series. If ANYONE has one, 1.7 GHz and above and would like to trade, email me and let me know! I'm willing to downgrade (trade for a worse system) because I really like the Gateway's. Let me know!

Dude, gateway has had problems with quality, and customer support. imo I think your better off not getting a slower computer by trading a faster one, especially for a peecee.

I'm not sure why.. my friend and her parents keep buying computers from Gateway.

Is Gateway = Apple, in the Windows world?

They copy apple's design all of the time.
When the orginal iMac came out and was very popular gateway released a knock off. The flat panel iMac also had a copy rom gateway. the laptops have a similar story.

Gateway has had its troubles partly with quality and partly with their inability to compete with Dell and Compaq (now HP) They tried a foray into the coporate server world and had there lunch handed to them. They seem to be making a good run at branded electronics so who knows. they may have found a formula that works now.

If someone has had great luck with them awesome, however I alway's steer friends/families/customers to Dell or HP those of who don't want an apple that is

Being a mac forum the odds are pretty small, I understand a lot of mac users have PCs also (I do) but your best bet is to go to a forum that supports PCs - which I'm sure you probably already did.

Of course, Gateway did use a TiBook in one of their ads a while back….

I know everyone is waiting for someone to say it, so you can all pounce on that someone. I will be that someone.
Dude sell your crappy dell and buy a Mac. No one here has what you seek. But we all have what you don't yet know you need.

Please don't post in the thread unless you have some information that the thread owner asked for (like if you have information on the Gateway he's looking for). I don't want this to turn into something that it's beginning to.

Thanks.
