Hey folks - I thought I'd try this here before I took it to eBay (since I'm just going to turn around and buy a Mac anyhow)...

The following PC is for sale or trade:

I purchased this computer new from Best Buy last May. It is a Toshiba Satellite 1955-S805. The processor is a Pentium 4 2.52GHz. It has 512MB of RAM and a 60GB hard drive. There is a CD-RW/DVD-R built-in (has been used 3 times for burning DVDs, 17 times for CDs). The screen is 16", with the optimal resolution being 1280x1024. Has S-video output, two USB ports, and a FireWire (IEEE 1394) port. The screen is beautiful and flawless - no scratches, no dead pixels, no "bad spots". Installed software includes: Windows XP, Microsoft Office 2000, Adobe PhotoShop/ImageReady 7, Macromedia Studio MX, Lightwave 7, UltraEdit32, Apache, PHP, MySQL, and a slew of other little apps for music creation (plugged my microphone in through a mixer to record guitar tracks & vocals). Also have Counter-Strike retail version (although I'm not much of a gamer). If you want to know about something specific, just ask - I don't know what people really want, so I don't know what to list. Those are just the ones I used the most. Computer is virus-free (two anti-virus apps always running).

Here are the downsides, and I'm going to be totally honest about it's condition. I'm going to describe these things in as much detail as possible, so they may sound worse than they actually are (but that's better than a disappointed buyer).

Downsides - currently missing two keys from the keyboard: "Print Screen" and the right arrow key. Long story short, a shoe fell on the keyboard and those two popped off. I have checked on eBay, and an entirely new keyboard can be had for around $40. I never bothered because I didn't really need it - both still function...it's just a naked button there in place of the keys. I'd be willing to bet you could just pop in new keys if you could find them, rather than buying an entirely new keyboard. Also, the port for the AC adaptor has a bad connection. I think it may need some proper cleaning from someone who knows what they are doing with electronics. It works fine until you jostle the laptop around a bit, and then it looses it's connection and reverts to battery power. If you notice it happen, you can usually fidget it back to a connection. I bought a new AC adaptor thinking that was the problem - so you'll get two AC adaptors, but the problem remains. Again - this only happens if you jostle it around - if you leave it on your desk it's fine. The battery works fine, too. In all honestly, it's more of a "portable" than a "laptop" since it's so large and does get a bit warm - so it's better suited to a tabletop or desk anyway. I usually forget about this problem since that's how I use it...plugged in at my desk, on battery when I'm meeting clients. The third issue is a bum USB port. It actually has three, but only two are functional. I tripped on my mouse cord and it damaged one of the USB ports in the back of the computer. There is still one back there and one on the right side.

Those are the only three flaws. I won't even say they're the only three flaws "that I know of" because I know there are no others.

This computer has been my work machine. It has seen lots of use and is a very reliable machine. If you want a PC that's the exception, this is the one. It's fast and reliable.

Here's what I'll throw in as far as accessories: Microsoft optical mouse (four buttons & scroll wheel), carrying case (it's hard to find one for a laptop this size!), extra AC adaptor (total = 2), Linksys 802.11b wireless pcmcia card. I also have a three-piece speaker & subwoofer setup I'll throw in. Not sure of the brand - purchased from Best Buy for about $75 last year.

Looking for best cash offer, or trades of G4 PowerBooks, G4 PowerMacs w/displays, or G4 iMacs with the LCDs. Please, no eMacs or older iMacs.

So - who wants to help me make "the switch?"

*bumpity*

I'll be taking it to Best Buy and having them do the repairs that are necessary. It will take 2-3 weeks because they need to send it out. Assuming the computer will be sold back in fully operational condition without any flaws, are there any offers?
