Whether you think they should be allowed here or not, there will be no more Ebay links. Ebay changed their scripting this morning so that outside links to items on their website will automatically be directed to the front page.
I had actually changed my mind about Ebay links (as long as they were for Mac items and not Xbox games) because it not only gave you added assurance of buying from someone known on the forums but sometimes you could get great deals.
No matter what, kind of annoying not to be able to give Ebay links at all.

All the links still work fine for me.

Ok, why isn't it working for me? I wonder if my Safari has something screwed up in it.

That goes against MacNN forum policy.

I don't know if you were joking or not, but saying something like this still isn't necessary.
Lay of MacTraderBoy, everyone.

I don't think anybody would have a problem with MacTraderboy if he weren't so intent on trying to be the Marketplace mini-mod.
Somebody laying down the law might help...

Why don't we change the posting rules slightly to help take care of this ebay argument? I think that people who are posting ebay items should prefix their topic with ebay. Then any other auctions would be marked FA, and everyone that does not like the ebay posts would know that they are just that without opening them.

Why bother differentiating between eBay and other auction sites? It doesn't really seem like it's that big of a deal - FA for auctions, FS for sale. Heck, even if there's no designation, how much of a hassle is it REALLY to view a thread and see a link - then just hit your back button??? It doesn't really seem like the kind of thing that requires detailed regulations...

Personally, I'd prefer it if people weren't allowed to post links to auctions (ala. AnandTech). It builds more of a community feel, rather than just a place to drop a link and move to the next "for sale" forum.

But this is the Marketplace - not a discussion thread - that's my only point. I come into this forum to see what's for sale...I go to the Lounge to chit chat (or any other topic-specific forum for that particular area of discussion). If people put "FA" in their post title in this section, then you know it's an auction link - so just don't look. If you click a thread and see a link, just back out. It's a marketplace. People try to sell stuff. It's business - not personal in here.
But that's just my opinion - and if the admins feel differently I respect their decisions.
