Ok, this is kinda messed up, but...
Apple never installed iDVD on my iBook, even though it says on the website "Comes with all this great software..."
So I called apple care and they decided to send me the disc, but of course they got it wrong and sent me just the CD (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie).
When I called them back, the guy actually said "Yeah, I know it says it on the web, but it really doesn't come with iDVD unless it's got a superdrive." So I called him on the fact that it's blatant false advertising, and now they are sending me the whole retail box of iLife for free....
That said, I have this leftover cd that contains half of iLife, so if anybody is interested in everything but Garageband and iDVD, it can be yours for $20 shipped.
Man, that was long-winded.

That's not honest.
Apple gives you iLife with your purchase. You should only get the version without iDVD if you don't have a DVD drive, but if Apple wants to make an exception for you, that's their business. However, if they choose to do that, you need to consider both the CD-version and the DVD-version as one unit, and sell them together or not at all. Anything else is piracy. Apple considers it one unit - you got 'iLife' with your Mac, no matter how it is represented via DVDs or CDs. You have one license, and if you sell that license, you cannot use the DVD software (or the CD software either..)

Why is that not honest?
He has a license and the cd now - he's selling it. He's getting the full package that's license #2 he's keeping that. He's getting the second package because apple advertises iLife not iLife lite or anything and iLife comes with a DVD. He has every right to dispute that and imo he's certainly can sell what he has now.

Yeah, every thing that they are sending me is legit. The cd that I got hasn't even been out of the package. What isn't honest is the fact that Apple tried to tell me I wasn't entitled to iDVD. So anyway, like I said if anybody is just interested in the cd half of iLife, it's still available.

I hate to say it, but technically you only got one license. And you aren't entitled to iDVD if you don't have a superdrive, it's ALWAY's been that way. But whatever floats your boat.
Just clarifiy, have two disc's doesn't mean you have two licenses, just like having one disc, doesn't mean you only have one license (Family packs for instance).

On the iBook page, when I bought the computer, it said "Comes with all this great software," then it lists every component of iLife, including iDVD. There is no stipulation about superdrives. End of story. I don't care if it was a mistake on their part, it's false advertising if they are not going to include it.
To respond to your second point: they sent me a legitamate copy of software that I already had. I asked if I needed to send it back to them and they said no. I did not steal the software. Now if I was selling burned copies or something I would understand your point...

Sorry, but that still isn't a valid license. With your iMac/whatever you get one license for that software. You don't get two. Your selling one of those licenses is wrong.
Put it this way - what if Apple shipped a DVD with iLife on it that your DVD drive couldn't read, but other DVD drives could. You call Apple, get another good DVD, and sell the first one. That's exactly what you're doing. It's theft. You have one license for one copy of the software - that's it.

I'm not going to argue one way or the other on this. I received iLife with my iBook and it only has a Combo drive. iDVD was packaged with it. Does that mean that I'm not eligable to own it if I don't have a Superdrive. I don't think so.

This really isn't worth me arguing about. I thought it would be a good opportunity for someone who just wanted that software. Oh well. Not for sale anymore.

Apple made the latest iDVD work on all machines, even those without Superdrives, right? Seems that if they included it and advertise for it being including in all iBooks you've got the rights to run it.
