My iPod was working great until about 2 months ago. At that time it no longer would receive a charge or sync up with iTunes. I opened her up and found that the firewire port connectors within the iPod had broken. I sent it to pdasmart.com and had it repaired. It worked great for another couple months until last week when I couldn't get it to sync with iTunes. It would still charge, but it wouldn't sync. I tried another firewire cable, and to my surprise, it synced fine, leading me to believe that it was just a bad cable.
Well this morning, I couldn't even get the iPod to charge. I started wiggling the firewire connector within the port and found that if I hold the firewire connector in at a certain angle, the ipod will start charging again (but still not sync with iTunes). This leads me to believe my firewire port has gone bad again. I could be wrong, but am pretty confident with this belief.
I'm once bitten twice shy with repairing it again. Maybe someone here has the knowledge to repair it themselves, but I'm ready for a new one, with a better firewire connector.
I'm thinking maybe $50 shipped? Is that reasonable?
thanks,
