I need to replace the floppy drive cable in my PB 520c in order to keep this workhorse going! It ripped in half the last time I took my floppy drive out in order to get a stuck disk out. I can put up with the weak battery and flaky power plug, but not having a floppy drive really limits me. I use this thing daily at work (I'd rather check my e-mail on this instead of a new Dell) and really need to fix this.

I don't need anything else or a whole unit for parts. Just the ribbon cable. I can get you the Apple part number if you need it.

Thank you.

I hope you find one. Have you checked eBay?

I had my 540c until just a few months ago. I upgraded the processor with a NewerTech 183MHz PPC with 128k Level 2 cache and it had a hugh 32MB of RAM. Both batteries held about 1.5 hours each. It ran OS 8.1 like a champ. I tried 8.5 (using ResEdit and Wish I Were) but it was dog slow. I surfed the net using my cable connect. It felt like dial-up but it downloaded great. What a sweet PowerBook.

I still have the Apple branded AAUI Ethernet adapter. If you want it just pay for shipping and it's yours.

Last time I checked eBay, you could get a whole 520/540 for under $10. I don't need more stuff sitting around, I just need a floppy cable. I upgraded with a 117Mhz processor and on the network at work it works just fine for e-mail. Yes I do have an ethernet adapter. I'll check eBay again if I get no response.
