OOps. Thanks for the clarification.
I'd actually like either a 30 or 40 gigger. Doesn't matter which generation.

Your best bet is the apple refurb store, and being a student does help a little(or find somebody that is a student!) If there isn't a 30gb listed there, it will likely come back soon. When I picked mine up as a student, for $480 I got:
the ipod with all of the accessories(dock, remote, case, cable, AC, software...pretty much everything that it can come with)
itrip - which I completely hate
Applecare - $47 for students
I did have a problem with mine but it was corrected within a few days. I sent it back with their packaging slip via email and they sent mine out right away. I sent mine back with zero accessories and I came to find out that the problem was the firewire cable. I think the iPod itself was $349 + tax + shipping(if expedited) but it's all in what you're looking for I guess. Roughly about $400 for it overnighted(unless there are no apple locations in your state) and that's a steal for a new 30gb ipod, in my opinion.(40gb was 399 refurbed when i got my 30gb I believe) Good luck with your search!

Yes, the Apple Store Refurb. does have some nice deals.
I'm hoping that someone has one here that they've used and abused and are willing to let it go for less.
Worth a shot to ask.

I have a used 30 that I'd sell for $300. It works perfectly, and it's been so well covered and protected during its life that is is scratch free--you'll think its brand new. I can fedex it to you for Thursday delivery.
