I've had real good luck buying them from ebay. The thing to find is an AA battery cradle. Most of the time the rechargeable battery that comes with the Newtons are dead. You can shock them to life enough to get the newton to start charging them again.

Hope that helps!

PS. don't be afraid to get the 2000s that are upgraded to 2100s, i have one of each and they both work like champs.

If you don't mind the question, what have you paid and for what accessories?

I'm curious about this too........ I still have fond memories of my Newton, and would love to use one again.... I'm assuming Newton 2000's and 2100's must be a lot cheaper now.

How useable are they in the "modern world"? i.e. with OS X, modern apps, USB, etc.? I remember the Newton always having a pretty devoted community, but I wasn't sure how long it would have lasted. It would be awesome if there were still people writing new apps for it, etc. The only thing keeping me from getting a Newton really would be worrying that it would just be too difficult to use them now with modern equipment. But if I could still use it for taking notes, working on word processing docs, etc. it would be awesome.

I paid around 65 bucks for each of them. I used one for a good deal of time with OSX but really havent had a use for it after I got a phone that synced with iSync. :/

However, here are some neato links for newton heads:

Newtsync

The guy was doing all the work himself but got tired of people taking him for granted. Its now open source so anyone can work on it.

Newton 802.11 driver

This is way cool.

ATA support for Newton

NO longer have to buy the flash ram cards. Between 50-75 euros for the license though. Free for trial usage.

Hope that helps!
