Looking to grab my dad a QuartzExtreme capable card for his PM G4 466 (Digital Audio). Ideally, I am looking for a Radeon 8500, but I'm open to any other QE card that I can find for less than $70. Post/PM me offers!

Look at this: A guy who posts on xlr8yourmac.com listed it.

I have a very, very inexpensive GeForce 3 available. The reason it's so cheap is because it's not perfect. First of all, it can only drive one monitor, and the onboard S-video does not work. Also, it will only function properly in 4x AGP slots (the 2x AGP slot of pre-Digital Audio PowerMacs will cause flickering). Finally, I observed an effect where some horizontal lines would flicker across the screen for a brief period after startup and waking from sleep. They go away after about a minute and I have no idea what causes them.

Because of all these caveats I'm selling it for $35 shipped. It's a fast card, comparable to the Radeon 8500 in most areas. It just has a lot of minor, annoying problems that don't really harm usability in any major way. Let me know if you're interested.

"That's Mama Luigi to you, Mario!" *wheeze*

Thanks. I saw your GeForce3, but I'd like something a bit more reliable. I've tried a couple of PC GF2MX cards I have lying around, but they are all flickery. I think since Quartz2D Extreme is in 10.4, I'll go ahead and spring for the 9600 that supports it (and core image), ideally speeding up the interface on his somewhat sluggish machine. They're only 119 from OWC.

If I were you, I would totally jump on that geforce3. I have the exact same setup on my Digital Audio. Unless you need ADC or DVI really badly, the geforce3 will outperform EVERYTHING in that pricerange. The flickering is only a problem on older G4s, your digial audio will handle it just fine because it can supply enough power to the gf3, earlier models with 2x couldn't. Reliability will be just fine as well, with the new rom on the card os x will have no idea that it's not an apple original part. But, feel free to do what you want. However, I doubt you will find a similar deal.

Good luck-
Dave
