Your asking price is way too high.

You can almost get a new iBook with a significantly faster CPU and almost the same hd for just a couple bucks more.

Sure, you can get a 1.33 G4 with a 14" screen with extra GB of RAM and a 80GB hard drive for $1849. $800 more and it's still an iBook.

This computer is worth $500 max, and your 80GB hard drive is worth near $100. Anybody in their right mind knows that Apple charges out the ass for build to order options.
You don't have to listen to us but don't expect your item to sell here. I'd try eBay if you're looking to get anything close to that. Pay the $20 to get it featured and advertise it as being pimped out.
I don't mean to be hostile but, rather, realistic. I hope you take it that way.

And if you want to sell it around here, perhaps you should take the ram, hard drive, and battery out of the package, and sell it for the $400-$500 that it's worth.

A 12" iBook with 512 MB RAM (same as your offer) and an 80 gig hd (again, same as yours) costs $1199. If you would be happy with a 60 gig drive, you can subtract 50 bucks.
This would be a new machine with warranty, a CPU which is almost twice as fast and a Quartz Extreme-capable graphics card. So honestly, I think you are asking for way too much.
I would estimate a price in the $500-ballpark, keep your extra stuff in and add another $70-100 (depending on the overall condition of the machine). $600 as a basis for negotiations, and maybe you can get a deal with someone that you include shipping in those 600 bucks, and it's a done deal.
If you insist on your price, try ebay.

My TiBook has a 60GB drive (5400rpm with 16mb cache) and a 4x superdrive (Reads/Writes DVD+/-R/RW and is dual layer) and yet, I can't get offers for more than $800 on it. So I agree that the asking price is a little too high.

osxpinot, if you can tell me where to purchase a Toshiba 80GB 2.5" HD with 16MB buffer for $100, I will buy 100 of them. Let me know where, and if it is so, I will then believe what you say. If not, proves you are full of hot air.

That is a total of $140.00. That is 40% more than $100. Almost the same as you say? That would be like me saying I can get you a new 17" Powerbook for $2700 but actually it will cost you 40% more ($3780), but that's still pretty much the same price I guess in your terms. How old are you? 12?

Used things loose about 10-20 % in value. You shouldn't compare ebay prices of new things to real world prices of the same used thing. You can argue all you want (it's in perfect condition, etc. etc.), you put it in your computer, it's used.
Just think of it this way: if I can buy a new drive for the same price as what you want plus shipping, I'd take the new one any day.
Sorry, buddy, but I don't think you'll sell your gear here if you stick to your price.

I'm not 12 years old, but I know that 12 y/os like to quiver over petty details and call things apples to apples that really are not. However, let me come down to your level for a bit and play twelve years old.
You are selling a computer with a used hard drive, and that eBayer was selling a brand new hard drive. You forgot to figure the fact that your drive is used. You also forgot to figure the circumstances. This drive was put on Buy-it-now on eBay, and Buy-it-now prices usually reflect a higher amount than the items usually go for if they were to be bid out. I showed you the first result I came up with, but later I did a completed item search just to refute you. Here is the first result I got.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...sPageName=WDVW $102.50
Value= that the price people are willing to pay
Value is not equal to the price people are willing to pay + shipping
When I said that your drive was worth near $100, I was right on. Perhaps, you will ponder over the petty details associated with me being 2.5% off, but the facts remain.
Furthermore, the value of the drive plummets when you sell it as part of a computer. Thus making the drive worth even less than $100. I'd say $50, tops.

Not to mention, being a TiBook 500, it's somewhere between 3 and 4 years old. It's not like we're talking about a last-generation model here.

Also not to mention that it is notorious for paint flaking and hinge snaping. And if a hinge snaps, you are out $400 to purchase a new upper assembly unless you want to go through a long and involved process.

I think the machine is worth about $800-850. Just because you guys are so cheap, doesn't mean that the asking price should be $500. Get real. *rolls eyes*
Good luck with the sale, although I recommend selling some of the RAM separately.

That's why we suggested eBay.

Yes, good suggestion. Also Craigslist if you don't live in the boonies.
