I am just testing the water to see if there is any interest, anyway, here is the story. I bought a 3G iPod a year ago and just recently it broke. I extended my AppleCare in March and then sent it back and got a brand new unit. So here is what is included:
  • 3G 15 gig iPod (erplaced by Apple Care in March)
  • 23 months of Apple Care
  • Apple Dock with line out, USB/Firewire/Power
  • Brand New Earbuds that havent even been used because I have a Shuffle also and I have just used those earbuds.

All the original boxes are included...

Does $300 sound fair? The only reason I am considering selling this is to get a bigger iPod since I now have more than 15 gigabytes of music...

$300 is way to high a price even with Applecare and the dock. A refurbished 4G 20GB iPod can be had for $229. A new 4G 20GB is only $299.

yeah thats why I said I was testing the water.... I am not real hard pressed to sell it. I still really don't think it is that bad of a price though, the Dock is $39 and Apple Care is $60 and this is basically brand new since it was replaced less than a month ago and for the next two years it can be replaced for free if it breaks.

From the posting guidelines:

4) No feelers, interest checks, or price checks. Put the item(s) up for sale with the price you want. If there's no interest, no one will respond. If the price is too high, people will make an offer for what they feel is fair.
That said, I think $200 is a fair price for your iPod.

I would have to agree with Luca. Around the $200 range is what it might go for. You could always throw it up on ebay if you are trying to get every penny out of it. I have seen some 4G 20GB iPods selling around the $200-$250 range on here recently and some have included AppleCare. The downfall for yours is that if your selling price is too high and too close to a brand new 4G 20GB iPod you will probably not get as many potential buyers. I mean if it was me and the price was pretty close to a new 4G 20GB I would just go for the 4G iPod. I would have 5GB more room and could always get the AppleCare a little later before the warranty runs out. If you are trying to get every penny you can out of it, you might be better off putting it up on ebay. $200-$250 range is probably your best bet here. I could be wrong though... someone may offer a little more. You may get too close the the cost of a referbished 4G or a brand new 4G if you go too high with your price on here though.

You weren't offered anything. He was just pointing out the rules. I wish people around here didn't get so defensive when somebody points out that their price is too. If you want anything around $300 for this, take it to eBay. We do not pay eBay prices around here.

Not a very smart response to someone who has been around for 3 years longer than you... especially after you still got a response despite breaking the rules here. $200 is the most you are going to get here unless you find someone who is willing to pay extra for the fact that it is 3G not 4G (not going to happen).

EDIT: In fact, someone is selling 4G 20 gig iPod for 200 right now.

Just for comparison sake...

I bought a 3G 30GB iPod on eBay about a month ago. Almost brand new condition, box, cable, dock, new earbuds, sealed foams, even the little port covers, carrying case, everything that would be with a new one. I paid $227 + shipping. About $235 to my door.

Feel free to re-list this item in a FS thread. The forum policy is that we do not allow feeler threads.

To all of the armchair mods - use the "report abuse" link under the personal information instead of posting in the thread. Also, keep your pricing concerns to PM or email, although this thread was different because it was a "feeler".
