Hey all, I am selling my just purchased iBook Clamshell SE because I got a great deal on another Mac, and since I do not need this one anymore, I am going to sell it. The iBook is in near mint condition, and it is the top of the line Clamshell, the last of its breed and the best one, it has been upgraded and runs Tiger well and Panther ever better. Here are the specs...

466Mhz
320MB Ram (Expandable to 576MB)
40GB Harddrive
DVD Drive
Airport card included
Firewire and USB
Powercord
Brand new Battery that holds 5-6 hours a charge.
NO DEAD PIXELS OR SCRATCHES ON SCREEN!

Included stuff
OS X Jaguar
OS X Panther iBook Discs
all original CD's and packaging (including mint box and manuals)
OS 9.1
MS Office v.X with keys (retail)
External 3GB USB harddrive with passthrough cable
Graphite carrying case included.

Asking price is $650 shipped in the continental US. I prefer paypal but will accept cashiers checks as well, once cleared the ibook will ship. PM me for more detailed shipping to your door

I can install Tiger on it for you if you like but I cannot include the DVD, let me know if you would like that. Everything is in mint condition except one blemmish on the handle (really small and no biggy). Here are some pictures of the system I have.

YES THAT IS MY WIFE PLAYING POGO ON IT

Will not go that low, let me point you to some apple reseller stores and their prices for a bone stock model.

Store 1

Store 2

I see the same prices everywhere I go, and none of them include the OS, so given the bundle I am offering I am holding firm to $650 shipped. Cheers!

That's a pretty good package, so I'm sure you'll be able to sell it. But if not, think back to me.

I wouldn't want to compare my price to an online dealer's if I were you. They are always overpriced, but nonetheless, with all those extras someone might consider it to be worth 650. I would want a clamshell myself, but the cost: performance ratio is way too high. You do realize that you can get practically new (refurbished/whatever) iBooks for about 900 dollars from Apple.

If you mean the last one, I'm sure it's just the camera flash/other lights in the surrounding.

Was the flash, I was testing out a new Minolta DiMage camera when I took it

The backlight is 100% perfect, matter of fact the entire package is a collectors dream come true. I really hope I can get it in the hands of a college student or someone that will put it to the use it deserves.

You mean I cannot install and ship it that way? Whats wrong with that anyway? It is not like I would copy Tiger and ship a bootleg or anything, its just a pre-install. I mean if its a problem I will just leave it be with Panther with the Discs. I just didnt see the harm in it.

Wish I could, man -- it's a sweet deal. Good luck selling it. I'm going to have to stick to upgrading my Pismo and clamshell 300.

No college student will be able to/willing to pay 650 dollars for a clamshell. I'm going to college myself next year, I can't afford that much.

I wish the bottom rubber on my 466 wouldn't have started separating from the case. Otherwise mine's in terrific shape - typing on it right now. But even with all the accessories you won't get $650 for it, Kyros. It's definitely worth more than its market value.

Wow, if you can get $650 for your iBook 466, I should easily be able to get $850 for my iBook 600, (ignoring that a brand new iBook 1.2ghz G4 sells for only $150 more)

Once you jump above a certain point, it makes it not worth it anymore, but I see what you mean!

Yes, thats exactly what I mean

The liscense for OS X clearly states that it is for installation onto one (1) computer only.

By installing it on the iBook, selling it without the disk, and then installing it on your next 'puter, you would in effect be pirating/bootlegging your copy of Tiger.

Also what would the buyer do if they needed/wanted to re-install the OS, huummm ? Go fork out an ADDITIONAL $129 for another copy of Tiger, huummmm...............not a good deal after all, considering your asking price

It is worth the money if it is in the condition that ChasingApple say that it is in. I have no doubt he is telling the truth about it though. The 40GB HD, new battery and Airport card are going to cost almost $100 each if you have to purchase them after the sale. All the extra's that he is offering make it worth the price. Go to eBay and find one with all this extra stuff and see what you get. You might find something of good quality or you might find someone's junk.

The 466MHz model was the best clamshell made. If I had the extra cash I would jump on this one. I have a 300MHz clamshell that just keeps on going. They are made to take a beating and are possibly the highest quaility iBook ever made. The clamshell is the Pismo of iBooks.

If it where my setup I would be asking around the same price. There is someone out there who will be willing to fork over the cash for it.

since we are debating the price, i personally can't get past the 800x600 resolution, it's just funky in OS X, and conisdering the 1024x768 resolution ibook's fall way within $650, you might even get a G4 800 ibook for that price.

as nice as this package is, the only appeal at that price is to a collector and you might just find someone. of course if it was key lime, you wouldn't have any trouble getting that price.
as ever,
sonny

You don't understand. I know it's worth 650, but the seller is a little contradictory when he's claiming to hope to sell it to a college student. That won't happen at that price, even if it is worth that much.

EDIT: Why is Key Lime worth so much more/has so much more appeal? Personally I think the graphite one is the one that looks the best...

Lime iBooks could only be purchased through the Apple online store, so there are probably much fewer of them.

Well the reason I said a college student is because of how sturdy it is and how awesome it types on. I know if I asked my parents for it for college it would be bought

I am in no hurry to sell it, matter of fact I might just give it to my Dad and get him started in the world of Macintosh!
