I'm looking for a 15" Powerbook. Has to be at least 1.25 GHz so it can run Motion.

Must have a Superdrive.

I'm pretty flexible on the price, but I don't want to get as new as a 1.67GHz machine.

I've got a broken G5 that I'm selling that could be used for part of the trade if someone was interested in it.

17" is too big for me, sorry.

Even the 15" is a little on the large side of my tastes. I've been living in the 12" world for a long time and I really enjoy it. However, I'm doing more in the field (production) and a 15" makes sense.

I have a 15" 1.25 G4 that I would consider parting with. It has superdrive, 80gbHD, backlit
keys, airport, bluetooth, 768mb RAM, etc. it does however need a new battery. I only
get about 50 minutes or so out the one I have. Also, about 11 months of apple care remaining.

Looks like a new battery is about $130.

So what would you take for your PB?

I've got another guy that's got the same machine, but with 1GB of RAM and a new battery. He's asking $1100.

So I'm trying to beat that deal.

However, you've got 6 months longer Applecare on your machine than he does, so that's worth something as well.

Let's see.

New battery would be $100
Replacing the 256 RAM in your system with a 512 would be $115 (from Crucial)

So that would be $215 more to match the systems. But you've got 6 more months of Applecare which is worth about $60.

So the cost differnce to match the two systems would be about $155.

I'd have to pay no more than $945 for your laptop to match the deal from the other guy.

Interested?

I think i have more than 6 months of apple care, it expires end of Feb 07. If his machine goes down, $155 is nothing compared to what it will cost to fix that notebook. And, Crucial is overpriced. I would match 1100, but not $945, sorry.

You've got 6 months *more* of Applecare than this other machine does. His expires in October. That's where I got those numbers from.

I know where you're coming from, but it doesn't make sense for me to pay the same for a machine that needs a new battery and doesn't have the same amount of RAM.

Thanks all the same!

Ok, now we're tracking!

Any dead pixels on the monitor?

Would you take $1000?

That, plus the extra battery and memory would put my cost at about $1160 total. Minus the $60 in extra Applecare you've got would equal about $1100, same as this other system.
