Recently bought a 12.1 Inch Powerbook, brand new. It slipped about half a foot out of my hand, in a protective crumpler "School Hymn" sleeve. The sleeve unfortunately was slightly open. There is now a minor dent in the front left hand side, that is driving me nuts. The laptop cost me $1600 on 3/10.
I'd like to get rid of it as I feel it's cursed. Yes I'm serious. I just don't think me owning this particular laptop was meant to be. I sold a 15inch to get this one and will if someone is kind enough to buy this laptop probably switch back to a 15 inch, maybe a Macbook Pro, mebbe. Specs: # 12.1-inch TFT display with 1024 x 768 resolution # 512MB memory (PC2700 DDR) # 80GB Hard Drive # NVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 (64MB DDR) # Full size keyboard # 10/100BASE-T Ethernet # USB 2.0 and FireWire 400 # Analog audio in/out # Mini-DVI out # Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger Serial #4H6016BERJ7 I have the original box, and all documentation, cd's,etc...
I'm looking to get $1300 plus shipping and insurance which I figure should be bout $60.

April Fools right?
Good luck selling it..the drop will void the warranty, and laptops like cars, lose some value the moment they leave the lot. I'm not sure if you want to offer the complete Tiger serial number either.

mac OS X does not have a serial number, that is the serial number of the powerbook.
halw, if you bought the powerbook using a credit card, especially a platinum or "high-level" one, then check to see if you have complimentary accidental coverage. My credit card has something like that for the first 45 days.
the drop could have affected something that dooesn't become apparent until later on. luckily, the hard drive has the "parked heads" technology, but the warranty is essentially void (good thing you didn't buy the applecare) since there is visibly damage (besides scuffs and scratches)
good luck

You can order a replacement bottom from a www.pbfixit.com if someone wants a fixer up a bit less than retail... This should avoid any issues with Apple saying it was damaged and voiding the warranty.

only if the drop did more than cosmetic damage. apple will continue to offer warranty service for any problems the machine has that were not caused by the drop.
