The hard facts:
- 800MHz TiBook
- 512MB RAM (2x 256MB)
- Brand spankin' new (in April) 60GB 5400RPM Seagate drive
- Combo DVD/CDRW drive
- 15.2" widescreen (1280x854) display
- Airport card
- 2 Batteries
- 2 Power Adapters
- DVI to VGA adapter
- D-Link DBT-120 USB Bluetooth Adapter (since this generation was not available with BT)
- Black Apple Pro Keyboard
- Black Apple Pro Mouse
Both batteries are in pretty good shape, having been conditioned on a strict cycle regimen for the last several months. One gets approximately 2 hours of life, the other about 1:15-1:30 (at half brightness, with Airport on).
The hinges are in good shape. They both broke simultaneously while under Applecare (imagine the look on the Genius' face when I showed up that day!), so Apple replaced the entire panel and both hinges. Worked great ever since. The latch, also, works fine (apparently a problem on some models, though I never had an issue).
Now to the not-so-great stuff... like most TiBooks, the paint is in less than stellar condition (see photos). 3 of the 4 rubber feet are missing (though you can score these by sweet-talking the Genius at your local Apple Store). The display has 1 stuck (red) pixel about 3/4" up and in from the bottom right of the screen. Only visible on a black background and then only if you really look for it. The secondary fan (on the rare occasion that it comes on) is kinda loud ($20 from ifixit.com and about an hour of your time).
This laptop really has been a workhorse for me for the past 4 years (purchased new, by me, from the Aspen Grove [Denver] Apple Store in August 2002). Outside of the hinge replacement, the only other issue I had with this machine was the original 40GB Toshiba hard drive crapping out on me 2 months ago. I swapped in a brand new 60GB Seagate, which will retain the balance of it's 5-year warranty.
Asking $550 + shipping. Payment by Money Order or non-CC Paypal. I have Heatware and Beerology references under my nick. Email, PM or post here with any questions or concerns, but please restrict offers to email or PM).
Since this machine doesn't have a Superdrive, I'll also offer up my external LG GSA-5160D Firewire DVD burner. It'll write DL DVD+R at 2.4x, DVD+R at 16x and -R at 8x, and rewrite at 4x. I'll ship it with the PowerBook for an additional
$60, including the power supply and a Firewire cable. I may still have the original box, so if I can find that I'll include it and whatever documentation happens to be in there.
