My iMac G3 400 MHz DV+ w/CDROM died recently. It’s the original style iMac - the color is blue I think, otherwise it would be green. It was making a clicking noise on power up. I replaced the PRAM battery and that did not fix it. Maybe the power supply is out? Anyway I'm offering it to anyone who wants it for free assuming they can come to my home in Arlington VA to pick it up. It has 512 megs ram and the original 10 GB hard drive.

Free, located in Arlington VA - Washington DC suburbs for pickup only.

-- Sorry forgot to add - I probably have all the stuff that came with it - hardware and software, and probably can provide a boxed copy of 10.2 or 10.3 to go with it.

That clicking sound is most likely the hard drive dieing. You could buy an inexpensive 20-30 gb new hard disk in there, re install the software hat you said you still have, and continue to use it. Try looking somewhere like newegg or tiger direct to find an inexpensive hard drive.

Thanks for the suggestion, unfortunately I just switched back to the original 10 gig hard drive from a 40 gig and it did not resolve the problem. I think it may be a power supply issue, but I'm not in a rush to start buying parts blindly to try to fix it.

imitchellq5 - Yes I can ship, probably would be about $30+. I have the box it came in -there goes my storage area for bank statements.... You can price it, it is 38.1 lb/17.3 kg, I'm in zip code 22206.

However, Please note I did change the hard drive and it still has the problem. The current hard drive in it was working fine in an external case. That being said if you can fix the problem, power supply or logic board or what ever you will have a nice old fashioned machine.

If you still want send me your contact info via private message and let the board know you are taking it.
Thanks,
iolaire

I sent iolaire a PM, I found a nice deal somewhere else for a 500MHz working. It was $30 to ship to Colorado Springs.

This is still available. I'd still prefer to give it to someone in the DC area where they can just pick it up. I'm willing to ship, however I will charge a $5 shipping charge as I'll have to go out of my way to ship it. So far shipping quotes have ranges from $15 for NYC to $30 for DEN.

Thank you, I'll be giving it to discotronic - assuming he is able to pick it up, otherwise I'll email govtcheez and see if he still wants it.
