just need a basic wireless router for my dorm so I can use the laptop in bed and on the shitter. Anyone got one?

Can PCs connect to airports? I was hoping to get a cheap d-link or netgear that somebody had used

Of course. Airports are normal WiFi access points.

You might just want to read Fry's / CompUSA / BestBuy weekly ads - usually they go for $20 or so if you look for a bit.
