Well a long time back I sold a Sony PSP on e-bay. Transasction went smoothly although the buyer did pay 100 dollars over the asking price. So I mailed it out transferred the funds from paypal to my bank. Then I get an e-mail from paypal saying that this guys account was hijacked and that all the charges on his account are fraudulent, and that Im responsible to pay the 400 some odd dollars that this guy spent on some other a-holes account. So to cut the story short, I just don't use paypal.

If there's any other sites out there to transfer funds Id love to hear about it. Or you can send me a money order, western union money order, personal check, etc...

Sorry if this is considered thread crapping, but Bidpay does the same sort of thing that paypal does and from my experience, they are a lot more involved with it.

What i mean by that is i'm at school in West Virginia, and we just got a new ISP with an anonymizer and so the IP shows up as coming from like Wisconsin. Well i signed up for a bidpay account to pay for some RAM, and i sent the $150 and for like 2 days it just said pending, and finally i got an e-mail that i needed to call bidpay about it. So i called and they noticed that all my addresses from the credit card and the shipping were in WV, but the IP came from Wisconsin and they needed to make sure i was who i said i was.

I thought that was a really cool thing that they did and it did make me feel better about sending the money. As far a a fraud policy or anything, i haven't read up on that, but just from my limited experience, i liked the service.

Maybe you should look into them as an alternative for Paypal, since it'll save your buyers the hassle of checks and money orders.

Now, back to and good luck with the sale!

There are a lot of Paypal alternatives out there - textpayme, neteller etc., but Paypal and BidPay are used in most online bidding/buying scenarios.

Paypal does scr*w you over sometimes though. Like about a year ago, I got scammed for a $600 phone and the auction was completely protected up to $1000, so I got all the money back in full in 30 days, AND about a couple weeks ago, I got scammed again, this time I didn't notice the auction was protected, and like you I only got a part of the money which they could recover from that dude sitting away in some country with an American address

So yeah its totally up to you, but if you doing an online transaction, it doesn't get better than Paypal or Bidpay

Getting back to the topic good luck on the sale, I'll bookmark this one for a while. I'm in the market for an iMac..

Too pricey for me, even though I want it , and not to be Captain Obvious...but if you lower your price, you might get more action :-)

/\/\/\ lower it more? got damn i think is pretty cheap and if i was in the market i would jump on it-but im full of apple hardware now-a-days. They have come such a long way now their very affordable or either im getting paid better this days i remember all i use t odo was dream about owning an apple and now its all i have.

Bump for a great price-1100 is cheap enough i think-people just dont appreciate the value of the computer now-a-days they look at-"but its a old processor" and the same people talking are the ones just browsing the internet.

BUMP and somebody buy his computer.

i think the price is a great price. the discounted imacs with rebates from amazon.com and other places are often stock models, which mean that they only have 128mb vram. the custom config imacs are almost never discounted when new.

unfortunately for sellers, the prices on the forums tend to be much lower on ebay due to the "knowledgable" people on the forums who are very much in tune with the rumors and are savvier buyers. unfortunately, ebay and paypal fees are roughly 10% of the final price. even so, you might be able to get more out of it on ebay, even after the fees.

i would take it to ebay. i wouldn't lower the price

Agreed, forum members are much more in the know, and won't pay nearly as much. The problem is that your iMac is already a generation old, since the new Core 2 Duo iMacs have come out, and now with Intel, all potential buyers can stack it up and compare it to the new processors. Since Apple has moved to Intel, their resale value won't be anything compared to what it used to be with PPC.

Take your Apple hardware to eBay, they're like pirahnas for anything Apple. Judging from completed listings on eBay the past couple of weeks for your exact machine, the going rate is around $1,150-$1,200 shipped...based on the going rate (knowing that Mac forum members are usually more stingy than eBay members), that's probably the reason why it's not selling here. Good luck!
