I'm selling my 15" PowerBook G4 1.25GHz. 80GB hard drive. 512MB RAM. SuperDrive DVD-RW. Airport Extreme and Bluetooth. In pristine condition. I'm a writer -- for some reason writers are fond of laptops/portables even when we don't need them; maybe because they make us think of typewriters -- so this PowerBook has spent it's life plugged in, on my desk, maybe left the house twice. Not the secondhand computer of a hardened road warrior. Never dropped, never so much as thumped.
This is the one with the ambient light sensor for screen brightness and the fiber-optic backlit keyboard. As I said, in pristine condition, all original packaging and cables, original install CD, Xcode Developer tools CD, and I'll throw in iLife '04 on original retail CD as I've since upgrade iLife on my family's Macs.
Screen was in fabulous condition when I first opened the box and remains so. No "white spots" -- those faded areas some people reported on the PowerBook screens -- no backlight issues, in absolutey great shape. No scratches, warping or other case damage. No fraying or any damage of any kind to the power adapter or power cables. All the rubber feet are still there.

For the last few months it's been used a couple hours a day to play music over the stereo. It's been a great laptop. Really, I don't won't to sell it, but we just upgraded to an HDTV -- after years of saying I can't tell the difference, I have to tell you, I can tell the difference -- and my wife made the suggestions that maybe I don't need to keep an infinite number of Mac portables -- and we could offset some of the cost of the new TV.
So, $800 firm-ish. Firm-ish meaning $800 is at least a $100 less than you'd pay through a used Mac reseller, and this PowerBook is definitely worth it. But if you want to make other reasonable offers, you won't offend me, just know that with the PowerBook in this condition with all original materials, I really want to get $800 out of it.
You'll pay your own shipping costs + insurance, whichever method you choose, except I will no longer ever ever again ship anything UPS Ground. (You do want this to get there in good working order, right?) You'll have to pay via PayPal before I ship the PowerBook. But you are welcome to use a credit card and I'll absorb the PayPal credit card fees, no surcharge to you.
I'll ship to the USA or Canada; payment via PayPal must be in US dollars.
Feel free to e-mail me at
sanford_may@mac.com or iChat at the same address; or Skype me at sanfordmay. I have iSight; if you have iSight I'll be glad to hold the PowerBook up for so you can video conference with it -- which seems kind of silly, but... I'm watching our two young boys all today, so I'll be around all day, unable to get any real work done but certainly able to answer questions about the PowerBook. I can also send photos, but may take a little time (see the part about taking care of our boys today.)
I want to offer this PowerBook to the Mac community first, but within 24 - 48 hours my wife will notice that the Mac is still sitting out, plugged in, not in a box ready to be shipped, and I will be compelled to put it on eBay. And she'll have a point: It's me jumping around like a kid because we know have HD on the Xbox 360! I'll post here again as notice before listing it on eBay.
