Okay, I'm looking for something for school. After my iBook died last week, I decided to just get something else instead of repairing it again.

Typically, I don't do anything really intensive. I mostly used my G4 iBook (1.2 Ghz) for internet, typing, some very light games, and watching DVDs and Divx videos.

My budget is a bit tight, however. As I'm a student and have had to recently lend money to my father, I'm looking in the $500-$600 range. I know that not much usually fits into those ranges, but I am currently considering a 15" G4 PowerBook on eBay that looks to fit in that range, but wanted to see if I could find anything here before I go for it.

I have a 12" powerbook on ebay right now, its 867mhz pretty much stock, you can find a link to the auction in the other wtb: 12" powerbook thread. My asking price is right in your price range.

Yeah, I saw that, but I can see that going far too high before it ends. I was watching a 15" PowerBook last week, and up until the final day had the high bid (and it was low at that), and then it got bid out from under me for much higher than I anticipated. I'll keep an eye on it though, as the one PowerBook listing I'm watching right now doesn't have any sort of wireless.

I can throw in an airport extreme to make it wireless if you purchase by the end of the week. LMK.

I might go for it, but first I want to wait and see about the auction I'm bidding on right now. It's done soon, so I should be able to let you know by the end of the week. Also, by then I'd feel better about the price since I should have the money from my old iBook. The only thing that bugs me is the idea of the loose metal shell. Is that only because of the missing screw?

Pretty much...

I guess you can use double sided tape or some other adhesive instead of a screw.

Maybe if I could see some pictures and get a price.

Well, getting screws is no problem. But like I said, I'll let you know if this auction doesn't work out.
