17 inch Powerbook G4 1.0ghz
768mb ram
80 gig hard drive (5400 RPM, Western Digital- under a month old, still have box and receipt from Best Buy- warranty until december '07)
Superdrive
17 inch 1440x900 screen (obviously)
Airport Extreme, Bluetooth, Built in Ethernet, FW 400+800, USB
New battery (aftermarket)
No modem

I bought this computer a little over a month ago and have been using it as my main system for just under a month. It's been pretty much my first time using os x seriously, and it's convinced me to buy a Macbook... so it's time for this one to go. It all works fine except for the modem, but there are some cosmetic issues.

I pulled the 56k modem from the system because for some reason it was causing a kernel panic on boot. After I pulled it out, there have been no problems whatsoever. I'll include it in a separate bag, in case you have some use for it.

The previous owner dropped the unit from his bed onto the side where the ac adapter plugs in (back left corner), so that area is damaged. The ac adapter is slightly bent, and the case is separated and dented in that area. AC adapter still works, just plugs in slightly crooked.

There are a few other dents/dings around the system. The most significant of these are on the back right corner, three on the lid, and one on the battery.

The new battery is an aftermarket one, and there is some difference in color, as seen in the pictures. The material used for the battery isn't holding up very well and is already showing scrapes and dents. But hey, who looks at the bottom of the system, and the battery still holds a full charge. I'll include the original Apple battery, which holds a charge for about 5 seconds, as well.

The top and bottom cases do not line up perfectly evenly along the front edge of the computer. The worst part is the front left corner and right above the screen latch release.

There are a few pressure marks on the screen. Only one is noticeable during normal operation, but there are 2-3 more if you look for them. I tried to show this in the pictures- they're most evident in the ones with the blank blue screen and the blank white screen.

There is also a single pixel that sometimes gets stuck blue. It's in the upper right corner of the screen, but still kind of towards the center. It shows up once every few days and is pretty much only noticeable on a black or darker background- it'll go away for a while if you rub it.

I think that about covers it for the damage to the system. I tried to show everything in the pictures. It really isn't as bad as the description and pictures make it seem; I just want to give a good idea of what is being sold here. It runs OS X very well; I've used it as pretty much my only computer for the past month, playing HD videos (VLC tends to lag with hi def WMVs, but Quicktime plus Flip4Mac WMV Player does fine), editing a school movie project, and putting together a song in GarageBand. It will run Office and Photoshop natively, which is something that the new intel systems can't do. The pressure marks on the screen are not very noticeable when playing movies, as I tried to show with the pictures of the computer playing an episode of The Office.

I think I've covered everything about the system, except for the price. I'm putting in a loose asking price of $800 shipped (to the lower 48). I'm somewhat open to trades, but it has to be something pretty cool, since I just blew $1100 on a macbook and could really use some of that money. Feel free to PM/IM me with any questions at all, and feel free to make any reasonable offer. Keep in mind that the best offer I've gotten so far is a trade for a mint first gen 12 inch Powerbook.

Payment would be via PayPal.

Yep, still have it. I'll also include a bag I have that it fits in.
