Folks.

I'm looking to buy a Macbook and did tons of searching for refurbished and bargain priced new books.

I stumbled across several "offers" on ebay and Google Base. While the ebay offers look somewhat serious, the seller doesn't have any ebay history, is a member only for a bit more than a week and is sellint to Macbooks and one Macbook Pro for somewhere in the range of 500 - 600 bucks. I guess the prices are dubious by itself. However, I've contacted him to send me a picture of the hardware with a piece of paper showing his name on it. Do you think that this - together with payment via Paypal - is good enough?

Re. the Google Base offers, they are even more dubious. Check out: Google Search

Sorry for the long URL. Especially look at the items from buzdnihao_5188@yahoo.com.cn and Chris Urban. What do you think? Looks very shady to me.

Will appreciate your views / feedback.
Thanks.

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Total scams. Any MBP under $1,300 is a scam, no doubt. Even some over that are scams obviously, but no one in their right mind would sell them for that low. Stay away!

Yeah, eBay's been overrun with hijacked accounts - each trying to sell dozens in a "one day only" deal. Even with established people, you've gotta look for signs of hijacked accounts (like multiples of the same item, "email me before you bid", etc).
