This is probably a longshot, and I'm not sure if it is allowed in the marketplace section, but my girlfriend recently left her Powerbook behind on a US Airways flight from Minneapolis to Philadelphia (April 10). By the time she realized what happened and went back to the gate, the plane had departed for its next destination (Houston). The computer had a distinct decal on its cover and was in a black neoprene sleeve when it was lost. If anyone has any leads that might help us recover the computer, please let me know.

Ow.

Check with lost and founds at both ends (where it was lost and where the plane stopped). Most people are actually good about turning them in. The decal will be a big help there.

Make yourself a "favorite search" on ebay - it will email you all the items that come up with those terms for something like 3 months. Check the craigs lists of the cities where the plane stopped, too.

You could probably post this in the lounge without issue.

If you bought your plane ticket with a credit card (like American Express), you might have automatic travel insurance that may cover the loss. Some websites (or travel agencies) may also add this automatically, so you should check with the place you bought your tickets too.

Good luck with it.
