I need to repair a Macbook Pro/Al Powerbook G4 keyboard with a damaged key scissor. (The key stays on but is crooked). Both of these models use the same key scissor mechanism. It'd cost me $5-$6 to get one and have it shipped from an ebay seller and the part is worth what, 5 cents? and shipping shouldn't be $6 for something so small. Does anyone have a broken Macbook Pro or Powerbook G4 that they'll donate a pair of these from? I could give you a bit of cash via paypal if necessary (i.e. to cover postage and a padded mailer), but I think $12 is nuts.

For a standard letter key, NOT the special keys like space, function, etc.

Would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have an apple store near by? They usually stockpile old keyboards to pull these exact bits off of.

Good tip - I'll head over there later this week. (I'm sick today, don't really feel like doing more than going home and falling into bed when I leave work early). I do have a friend who used to work at an Apple Store, so I'll ask him over IM today if his store did that, and if they all do.
