I'm in need of the cheapest Intel-based Mac possible. I'm doing a side job writing software reviews and such for a coworker's site, and the sad fact is, my little old 466MHz G3 iBook running 10.3.9 just isn't going to cut it anymore.
So. I need an Intel Mac. I've come to the conclusion that the absolute cheapest option is going to be a Core Solo Mini. I don't need much from it - just a combo drive, a hard drive, and RAM. I've got everything else (keyboard, mouse, display, etc). I don't even need particularly high specs - hard drive doesn't need to be big at all (I mean, even 20GB would cut it), and even if it's just got one 256MB DIMM installed, I can deal with that, too, since RAM is insanely cheap now. Don't need any system disks or manuals, although that's of course always appreciated. I don't even really need the DVI-to-VGA adapter, since I've got one of those handy, too. Just the computer and the power supply are all I actually need.
Auctions regularly go for $400+ on eBay, which is a little out of my price range - but that's for pimped out ones with upgraded RAM and hard drives and optical drives. I'm hoping to find a low, low end model for significantly less than that.
So. Anyone happen to have one of these laying around that you're just not using anymore? I'm hoping to keep it under $300 shipped via FedEx or DHL (USPS loses mail sent to my address way too frequently to risk it with something like this) to 46204. I've got crap to trade, too, if you need anything from me. Crap I have is listed here. I've also got a 300MHz tangerine iBook G3 with 320MB RAM and a 20GB hard drive, dual booting OS 8.6 and OS X 10.3.9, with Airport installed. So I'm up for a trade+cash to anyone interested.
Thanks.

Bump...
Seriously. Nobody has a low, low end core solo mini they need to offload? I'm serious about needing the absolute basics. All I need is something Intel/x86 that will run OS X (legally).

did you ever get one? i have a 1.5 CoreSolo Mini in like new shape. hardly used at all. i have a macbook, and before that a powerbook g4, so i never really put it through any paces.
it has 2gb ram, everything else stock. comes with combo drive and external 60gb usb hd.
i think the 300.00 price is what is keeping the thread silent. i'll take 425.00 + shipping for my set up. it's 600 for a new low level mini and more if you want the kind of ram i'm offering.
